No lies... no holding back

The first time I saw No Lies I questioned whether it was real or not untill the credits rolled. After watching it again I still cannot believe how genuinly believable and powerful a film it is. Not the actresses performance, but the performance of the filmmaker was outstanding. The dialogue was very fluent and draws the audince in and makes for a very uncomfortable watch. The camera work especially hightens the realism with the amaturish zoom in/outs and the soft focus at times. No Lies still holds as much power today as it did when it was made.

Both times I watched No Lies I think its real. Even after knowing that it isn't real I still want it to be real because its so powerful. It shows the power of this genre of films.

There is no question that the only thing that makes No Lies seem real is the topic they chose to use. Using rape as the issue is a way to have the audience sympathsize with the characters. They are less likely to question the authenticity os the footage. The superb acting and sly camera movements also deserve credit, but the charm was undoubtedly the issue tat was choosen to be exploited.
