Missiles of October

While we may have looked at this film as being a bit silly, I don't think it ever really got the credit it deserved. Yes, it was dated, but that doesn’t mean it had nothing to contribute to film history. We got to see an insider look at the oval office. And although it may have been portrayed before, I really got a sense from the use of technology (what seemed to be a new video format) and the framing that the director was really reaching to try to make something significant. And I mean that as opposed to “13 Days” which completely sensationalized/Hollywoodized the entire same incident.

The film may not be well know, but its innovations in video did make it something interesting to see. I have seen the film Thirteen Days, but I never knew that this subject was tackled before. Missiles of October was probably something that a lot fo people wanted to see when it first came out, but today many would most likely hate it. The characters had no depth and the actors were overacting. Live television is something that we are only used to if we're watching a game show, but watching live drama on television, in my opinion, will only hold people's attention if it is done more creatively.
